For culturally inclined visitors, the Knauf Museum offers the unique opportunity to view items from five centuries and four continents. Replicas of masterpieces from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, and the Hittite Empire, world-famous pieces of art from ancient Greece, Rome, and India, as well as the, for Europeans, lesser known cultures of the pre-contact Americas and the Easter Islands are on display in the expansive halls and the large courtyard of the old town hall. Every year, the museum offers topnotch special exhibits at the new addition to the Knauf Museum.

The Knauf Museum houses replicas of 205 masterpieces, the originals of which are on display at the best museums in the world, such as the boundary marker from the era of the Pharaoh Sesostris III from the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, the boundary marker of Hammurabi from the Louvre in Paris, or the Rosetta stone that helped decipher hieroglyphs from London. There are also superb replicas of items whose originals are still right where they were discovered.

Museum staff traveled to Thebes in Upper Egypt, to Greece and Persia, to the jungles of Central America, and to the Clenmacnois Monastery in Ireland to create the templates for the replicas.

The exhibits are impressive also due to the scientific approach and extraordinary artistic design of the exhibit halls. The aesthetic appeal invites visitors to discover and enjoy.
