The Museum at the Dome welcomes its visitors in the middle of Würzburg's vibrant centre. Opened in 2003 as the art museum of the diocese, the Museum am Dom has been promising amazing art enjoyment and stimulating, real-life impulses ever since.
From the early Middle Ages to the present day, there is a range of inspiring works of art by artists such as Yehuda Bacon, Joseph Beuys, Alexej von Jawlenski, Käthe Kollwitz, Jannis Kounnellis, Hermann Nitsch, Tilman Riemenschneider, Bernhard Heisig, Wolfgang Mattheuer, Werner Tübke and Michael Triegel.
In the juxtaposition and coexistence of old and new, an inspiring interplay of works of art develops in the permanent exhibition. Extraordinary confrontations provoke unimagined points of view and provide new insights. The emphatically sensory approach appeals to all generations and makes the visit a thrilling and enjoyable experience - for the heart, spirit and mind.
