The Iphofen Winegrowers invite guests to join them for the celebration of the “Hauling of the Last Load.” The “Last Load” symbolizes the end of the grape harvest for Franconian wine towns.
At 1:30 pm, the Iphofen winegrowers lead a parade in festively decorated vehicles from the Einersheimer Tor to the historical market square. They are joined by the Winzer Dance Group and the band of the Volunteer Fire Department.
At the market square, the winegrowers are greeted by Mayor Lenzer and representatives of the local churches. There are short speeches followed by the blessing of the harvest, and then it is on to enjoy traditional Franconian delicacies, such as “Bremser,” “Zwiebelkuchen,” “Schmalzbrot,” bratwursts, coffee and cake.
The children of the Winzer Dance Group entertain with Franconian dances.
The band of the Volunteer Fire Department provides the musical entertainment for the festival.
The event is followed by a Kellerfest hosted by the Volunteer Fire Department at the Town Hall Cellar. A great way to end the festivities!
- 12pm: Ecumenical prayer for peace in the Stadtpfarr Church St. Veit
- 1:30pm: Parade of winegrowers and their floats through the old town to the market square
- 2pm: Speeches, blessing of the harvest in front of the town hall with music, dance demonstrations, food and drink to follow
- Around 4pm: Kellerfest at the Town Hall Cellar with the Iphofen Fire Department
