Geschichtsscheune Iphofen©Stadt Iphofen/Axel Hartmann

The Geschichtsscheune behind the town hall and its exhibit “Iphofen History and Stories” is a great starting point for self-guided forays through Iphofen. In about half an hour, visitors learn about the main events in the history of Iphofen.

At the audio displays of the city model, Mrs. Eiche and Mr. Rebstock tell guests entertaining tidbits about who managed and ruled and protected and fed the citizens of Iphofen throughout the ages.

Precious sculptures from the 16th and 18th century can be found at the lapidarium. The impressive “Mater Pillar” from 1525 is the oldest surviving wayside shrine in Iphofen. Three interactive displays show “Who was important in the history of Iphofen?” or “How locals made it through bad times” and what life was like in the past.

For the little ones, there is more history and stories. Kids turn into knights and touching is encouraged.
