terroir f - A Magical Place in Sommerhausen

Art, Wine and Culture

The term terroir is of French origin and it encompasses wine culture in its entirety. This includes the soil, the climate, the grape variety, and also the philosophy and techniques of the winegrower. The f stands for Franconia. The culture defining work of mankind and the natural conditions combine to give the wine its character. In the Franconian wine country, there are 15 magical places that have earned the title terroir f. They each showcase a facet of Franconian wine culture.

Sommerhausen represents art, wine and culture. In the so called Siegelswäldchen above the vineyards, there now is a new sculpture park. Seven artists created large objects with the theme winegrower. They worked to capture the different aspects of the work and life of a winegrower with sculptures made out of steel, wood, limestone and clay. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent view across the Main River Valley sitting right next to a sculpture of the wine princess.
