High above Volkach, where grapes grow in the world-famous Escherndorfer Lump location, the theme of this terroir f is climate and climate change. This is a good place for this exploration considering that the Escherndorfer Lump is one of the warmest terroirs in Franconia.
A moveable photovoltaic element shows how strong the sun’s radiation is at this location. Alongside the steps leading up from the vineyard to the sightseeing platform, there are plaques chronicling harvest quantities and the quality of exceptional years all the way back to the Middle Ages. A digital display shows how climate and climate change affect winegrowing.
