Ferry services at this location have been documented as early as 1400 AD. This has always been an important river crossing for people traveling between the towns of Bamberg and Würzburg. To this day, taking the ferry saves a few kilometers’ drive.
Many visitors come here just to take the ferry for the experience of it. We offer special tours with dance performances of the “Mainschleifen” waltz by our tour guides. Well trained boat operators get guests safely from one side of the river to the other.
